 Answers:

Q1.           What Is The History Of A Toastmaster?

A1.           There are many theories to the origins of the Toastmaster, some dating back as far as the Greeks

& Romans. However, the most widely accepted theory dates back to the 17th century during the

reign of Charles II, when wine was of a very poor quality. At banquets, a highly respected person

was employed to take small pieces of bread dipped in herbs and spices and hold them in front of a

fire or over a small flame before adding them to the wine. This would both enhance the flavour of

the wine and also filter the sediment in the wine.  He would be known as the 'Master of the Toast'.

Employing the services of a Toastmaster at formal & corporate events is enjoying a recent revival,

albeit in a different capacity from the duties of old.  Most people will agree that they are tired of the

attitudes towards casual attire and lack of splender of recent decades & opting more for 'black tie'.

 Q2.          What Does A Toastmaster's Duties Involve?

A2.          A Toastmaster's duties have evolved somewhat over recent years.  His expertise should ensure that

every event, formal or informal,  runs smoothly and fulfills the very 'highest' expectations of  the

event organiser. The formal duties of a Toastmaster will include ensuring all guests are welcomed

and organised in readiness for the guest(s) of honours arrival. Welcoming the guest(s) of honour

and escorting them to their receiving or seating area. Event timekeeper, providing prompts and

cues for the formalities and introducing each speaker in turn, he may also be required to stand in

for the speakers should unforeseeable circumstances dictate. Assisting in organising any group

photo shoots that may have been pre-arranged with the professional photographer for the event.

Liasing with the banqueting staff and providing general assistance in all other matters on the day.

Q3.          How Much Notice Is Required & Do I have To Pay A Deposit?

A3.          Please provide as much notice as you are able to give, we have a very busy diary. Weddings are

usually booked as much as eighteen months in advance. Please bare in mind that most couples

planning weddings usually prefer to hold them on a Saturday and  during the summer months.

Please ensure you book early to avoid disappointment, it is strictly on a first come first served

basis. It is an unfortunate fact that sometimes events are cancelled due to changes in a clients

personal circumstances, which is why we regretably have to request a non-returnable deposit of

£100.00.  However, we sometimes offer flexibility should a client need to postpone to a later date.

Q4.          How Much Do The Services Of  A Toastmaster Cost?

A4.          The very basic services of a Toastmaster can cost as little as £200.00. This is a very small price to

pay to ensure your day is extra special. Please >> Contact Us  with your requirements for a quote.

Q5.          What Do You Mean By Toastmasters Attendants ?

A5.          Depending on the planned size of your event, we are able to arrange and provide other persons &

services for assistance on the day, including parking valets, doormen, chief ushers and security.

Q6.          How Many Toastmasters Does It Take To Change A Light Bulb?

A6.          The answer to this one is relatively simple and that is none! Unfortunately the Toastmaster is not

permitted to carry out any maintenance at venues whatsoever. Neither is it recommended that

any of the guests attempt to do so either. However, the Toastmaster / Master Of Ceremonies does

have the clients best interests at heart and understands that even something as trivial as a blown

light bulb in the wrong place, could put the dampeners on the special event. He will however do

all that is in his power to act as spokesman on your behalf and liaise with venue management to

ensure all issues, no matter how small or trivial are resolved in a diplomatic and timely manner.

Q7.          Is it True That Our Own Mr Browne Claims Connections To Queen Victoria!?

A7.          This truly is a fascinating tall story and one, that those who know him, have heard many times!
